My account as ES sufferer living in the UK, and my human rights are ignored! Money talks over our health which takes second place.

This is a article i had published in Riders Digest a few years ago.

I used to carry my mobile phone in the chest pocket of my motorbike jacket for a couple of years (up to August 2008).
During this time I was getting heart palpitations and a tremor in my chest ever so often. I thought something might be wrong with my heart and went to see my doctor who ran EEGs on a number of occasions. The results were always normal. Everything was fine. I thought I was going mad!

I started realizing that there was a connection, between these symptoms and my phone, even though they occurred even if I had taken the jacket off.

But I have stopped carrying my mobile phone on my body completely and these symptoms have stopped.
Another thing that started to make sense afterwards, was something I’d call “fake text messages”: when I carried the phone in my front jeans pocket I thought I was getting a text message, but when I looked there was nothing there. This happened on a regular basis. I just didn’t think that the phone itself could be causing this. I didn’t put two and two together.

I did some research and found that (according to Swedish scientist Ole Johansson) “this is caused by high intensity bursts of extremely-low frequency electromagnetic fields EMF charge that your phone is producing and affecting your nervous system”.

As I said I no longer get any palpitations or “fake” text messages, as I no longer carry the phone on me while it’s switched on. I have talked to fellow bikers (as well as friends and family) and many people have experienced similar problems.
Whatever you think about this, maybe give it some thought and please ask around your friends and family.
Unfortunately for me it had a nastier long term effect. I suffer now from a condition called electrosensitivity (ES)

This means I suffer from a variety of symptoms (dizziness, sleeping problems, skin rashes, concentration problems etc.) in closer vicinity to mobile phones, mobile masts, some electrical items/ currents, certain light sources like low energy bulbs, wifi, computers, tv-screens etc.

This makes my life very difficult, as you can imagine.

In this country ES isn’t taken seriously.
In Canada and Sweden though it is recognized as an illness.

I believe that my palpitations, the tremors in my legs were early warning signs. I just didn’t know. On this behalf I’d like to make other people aware of this.

Even though I don't know for defendant, if the phones have caused this or not. But in my experience, avoidance makes a lot of the symptoms go away, so I assume that an earlier avoidance might have delayed or even stopped my ES from occurring.
Just be careful, don’t carry your mobile on your body, don’t have it in your bedroom during the night using it as an alarm clock etc.

Electro-Sensitivity (ES)

Electro-sensitive people suffer from a variety of symptoms in close vicinity to electromagnetic fields, Wi-fi, mobiles, DECT phones, baby monitors, certain light sources etc: Headaches, Speech problems, dizziness, chest palpations, tinnitus, pressure in the ears. sweating at night. skin irritations, pins and needles in the hands in the mornings, short-term memory loss, nauseas, joint aches and pressures at the back of the head as well as in the sinus or forehead area.

Even if you are not ES yet, it is beneficial to turn off your Wifi over night, as well as to ban electrical items, your cordless phones and mobiles from your bedroom. You will sleep much better and are less likely to have an interrupted sleep pattern. Usually waking around 4 am.

Another simple test is to stop carrying your mobile on your body (chest or trouser pockets). in many cases people experience the so-called “phantom text messages”. This describes a situation where every now and then you think you had a text message, when keeping the phone in your pockets, but when you checked there was no message. Some even suffer from heart palpitations. If that is case, just try for a while to carry your mobile in a bag or switch it off, while you have it in your pocket.
